Demonstrators

Greetings from the Merryville Historical Society & Museum!

We would like to invite you to participate as a demonstrator for our 2024 Pioneer Heritage Festival on March 30! This event will take place in front of our museum and runs from 9AM until 8PM It is designed to entertain visitors and educate about the rich heritage of not only Merryville but also Beauregard Parish, No Man’s Land, Sabine River, SW Louisiana and SE Texas. The festivities will include live entertainment, live Pioneer demonstrations, silent and live auctions, and a wide variety of food and craft vendors.

Below is a thorough list of information for our demonstrators.

  1. Demonstrators are a VERY important element of our festival and are asked to actively demonstrate your craft while engaging, interacting and educating the crowd.
  2. Appearance and ambiance of your booth is CRITICAL to the overall atmosphere of the festival and the audience’s perception of the event as a whole. We highly encourage imaginative booth designs, flags, banners, etc.
  3. Demonstrators are asked to demonstrate their craft between the hours of 9:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M.
  4. Demonstrators are welcome (and encouraged!) to dress in pioneer period-appropriate clothing.
  5. Set up for demonstrators is Saturday, March 30th before 9AM
  6. No vehicles are allowed through the gates after 9AM.
  7. Demonstrators are only allowed to sell items that fall within the scope of their craft or skill. Out of respect for our food vendors, Demonstrators are not allowed to sell prepared food items.
  8. All spaces are outdoors. Demonstrators are responsible for their own tents, displays, tables, chairs, etc. Be prepared for inclement weather as there are no provisions if it should rain.
  9. You will be supplied with a tax packet. You are responsible for filing the necessary forms with the LA Department of Revenue and the Beauregard Parish Police Jury. Under state and parish laws, we are required to furnish a list of all demonstrators and vendors attending the festival.
  10. Absolutely NO pets are allowed anywhere on festival grounds.
  11. Local law enforcement provides limited security. Neither they nor the Merryville Historical Society assume any liability for injury, damage, loss, or theft.

If you would rather print and mail your form, YOU MAY DO SO HERE. Printed forms are to be mailed to the museum.

To confirm your willingness to participate in the 2024 Pioneer Heritage Festival, we ask you to complete the above form to the Merryville Historical Society & Museum by March 13th.

We look forward to your participation in this exciting event! If you have questions regarding the festival and your participation or returning your application, please contact us at merryvillehistoricmuseum@yahoo.com.
