2025 ACCOMPLISHMENTS
The Merryville Museum has been very busy for the year of 2025! Your membership and donations afford us to give back to the community and to preserve history for future generations.
Here is a look at all that we have accomplished this year.

JANUARY
The museum started the year off by planning for our March festival and sending out letters for our membership drive. Many sponsorship letters and vendor applications go out at this time as
well.
Our museum continues to welcome cyclists from all over the state and abroad with the Warm Showers program. We provide shelter for over 100 cyclists per year.

FEBRUARY
Members are busily planning our Pioneer Heritage Festival in March.

MARCH
The museum hosted an Adventure Cycling Group of 15. We provided snacks, drinks, a Louisiana seafood buffet, and a hearty breakfast for their send-off the next day. Many cyclists claim our museum is the highlight of their trip!
The Museum hosted our annual Pioneer Heritage Festival .
This is a free community event that includes activities for children, a Veteran’s Ceremony, parade, live entertainment, food, shopping, and re-enactors of pioneer days. KPLC TV and KVVP 105.74 Radio broadcast our festival.

APRIL
The museum partnered with the Town of Merryville for a free community Easter event with an egg hunt and refreshments on the museum grounds.
The museum supported the Merryville High School Cheerleaders for the 2025-2026 year by donating monetarily to their cause.
The museum donated personal hygiene and cleaning supplies to the Town of Merryville’s Senior Care Program that supports 50 senior citizens.

MAY
Victor Storer of Merryville High School received the annual $500 Museum Volunteer Scholarship!
Merryville High School community service awards given at the end of the school awards day program to students who volunteered their time at the museum throughout the year. A $500 scholarship given to a graduating senior who volunteered time at the museum during this program.
The museum donated money to the “Tiger Island Fire Exhibit’ that will take place in September at the Beauregard Museum.
Museum members planted flowers in the Town of Merryville’s planters outside the town hall to help beautify the community.
A monetary donation and resting stop were provided to cyclists on the Circles on a Mission fundraiser for the Methodist Children’s Home of Southwest Louisiana.

JUNE
The museum gave a monetary donation to the Sr Beta Club students attending the National Convention in Florida over the summer.

JULY
Bags of school supplies were given out to over 70 local parents with students in Pre-K to 5th grade who attended our local school. Free snow cones were provided to all who attended the school supply drive and 5 spirit t-shirts were given away.
The museum members stocked the Teacher’s Closet at Merryville High School with much-needed supplies for use throughout the school year.
Pizza, chips, snack cakes, and bottled water were provided to over 30 band members at Merryville High School Band Camp.
AUGUST
The museum gave a monetary donation to the Merryville High School Marching Band Fundraiser to assist them with travel expenses for competitions throughout the school year.
Museum members have begun planning for the Annual Christmas ‘Round the Cabin event.

SEPTEMBER
The museum gave a monetary donation for 30 Veterans for “Wreaths across America” to provide Christmas wreaths at the Merryville Cemetery.
The museum hosted the “Preparedness Fair” in conjunction with the Merryville Fire Department and the American Red Cross on the museum grounds.
Museum members decorated the museum, cabin and downtown area for fall time.
Museum members displayed Merryville treasures in a fair booth at the Beauregard Parish Fair.

OCTOBER
Our Annual Scarecrow contest is in full swing with entries added weekly.
Museum members assisted the Merryville High School Marching Band Booster Club with their Homecoming BBQ Fundraiser at the museum. The museum provided all the supplies and food for the fundraiser.
Museum members decorated a float for the Annual Merryville Homecoming Parade Festivities and “Bewitched the Bearcats”
Members passed out over 182 cups candy to the cutest trick or treaters.

NOVEMBER
Adventure cyclists were hosted from the USA and abroad. Meals were provide for our guests.
The museum filled both of Merryville's Blessing Boxes with canned food.

DECEMBER
The museum was honored to host monks as they continued their “Walk For Peace”. We refilled their supplies and gave them a place to sleep for the night.
The museum provided Secret Santa gifts in conjunction with the Council of Aging in Merryville.
A $200 donation was gifted to The Little Dribblers.
Our name will be on their uniforms.
Pansies were planted in the downtown planter boxes for wintertime.
We provided hygiene gifts for our Senior Care citizens in Merryville.
The museum hosted our annual community event called “Christmas ‘Round the Cabin”. There was shopping, snow-filled fun, live entertainment, story time with crafts, and a special visit from Santa! A lighted Christmas parade closes the event. Monetary prizes are awarded to parade winners.
